The Dead Shift

Something is still breathing in the empty rooms of St. Mercy Regional.

In 1994, Nurse Evelyn Shaw watched doctors force a patient past the edge of death and back again. He opened his eyes while flatlined, spoke about a corridor that shouldn’t exist, and then vanished. The monitors in every empty room switched on at once. The project was buried. The ward was sealed.

Thirty years later, the hospital is scheduled for demolition. Grant Mercer is hired to oversee a final overnight documentation team: two contractors, an IT specialist, and a former nurse who already knows the building better than she should. They expect empty corridors and outdated paperwork.

The hospital has other plans.

Doors lock behind them. Voices call their names from rooms that were empty moments before. Heart monitors light up with their real-time pulses and ask questions only they should know the answers to. The deeper they go, the clearer it becomes that the experiments never stopped. They only moved further underground, waiting for the right blood to walk back through the doors.

Some places don’t stay dead.

And some of them remember who tried to leave.

No One Leaves Outpost Nine

Something is already inside the perimeter.

Outpost Nine sits deep in the Arctic, cut off by a worsening whiteout. When the northern sensors fail and a camera is ripped from its mount, Lieutenant Colonel Marcus Rourke is told to hold position and continue normal operations. Higher command denies the breach. The countdown clock on the wall keeps running.

Major Evelyn Shaw and the remaining personnel soon realize the threat isn’t trying to get in from outside. It was never fully contained. It moves through systems, replicates voices, and doesn’t hunt like an animal. The deeper they dig, the clearer it becomes that the research buried beneath the outpost was never meant to stay buried—and that some of the people still inside already knew what they were sitting on.

When the perimeter fails, there is no extraction. Only the cold, the dark, and whatever is left of the men and women who were told the fence would hold.

No one leaves Outpost Nine.
